As a stay-at-home-mom I just can’t always get together with mom friends and have a good chat. Yet…sometimes I just need good uplifting conversation…someone to tell me “I know it’s hard, keep up the good work!”
I have found that podcasts help fulfill a need for me…and I can listen to them almost anywhere or anytime! Like when I’m washing the dishes or driving in the car or outside for a walk. I’m listening quite a bit right now as I’m training for this MomsTri. There are times when I just need to listen to some good uplifting mom talk.
Here are my top four picks (at least for now! I find that I add a few and delete a few each year…but I can say that Power of Moms and Cooking with the Moms have enjoyed a long run on my podcast feed…and aren’t going anyway anytime soon!)
Power of Moms
My take: I have enjoyed this podcast for quite awhile. April and Saren have a way of inspiring me to do better and be better without ever making me feel bad about the many things I’m not doing. I’m also a big fan of their website.
From iTunes: Power of Moms is an online gathering place for more than 30,000 deliberate mothers. In this podcast, Co-Directors April and Saren will bring you lively discussions, thought-provoking interviews, and inspiring ideas to help you find more peace, purpose, order, and joy in motherhood (and person-hood!).
The Mom Hour
My take: This is a recent find for me and I have really enjoyed listening to these moms talk about a variety of topics. They keep it real and make it funny!
From iTunes: Let experienced moms Sarah Powers and Meagan Francis – who have 8 kids between them from toddler to teenager – keep you company and provide encouraging, realistic and compassionate advice about motherhood, parenting, and more.
InspiredtoAction
My take: I love Kat’s workbook on creating a personal mission statement for moms. Check out her website for a free copy.
From iTunes: It’s like a pep talk for moms. My name is Kat Lee is my goal with each episode of the Inspired To Action Podcast is to…that’s right…inspire YOU to action. I’m bringing you motivating interviews, practical tips and lots of fun yet-insanely-useful conversation with people who believe in YOU and the amazing role you have as a mother. You’re a mom. You’re totally a big deal.
Cooking with the Moms
My take: I’ve been a long time listener of this podcast that gives practical tips on feeding your family healthy food they will eat! I see they haven’t posted any new podcasts since the beginning of January…but be sure to take a look at the past episodes! They have a lot of great information on their blog as well.
From iTunes: Listen and laugh each week as cookbook authors, dietitians, and busy moms, Janice Newell Bissex and Liz Weiss (AKA The Meal Makeover Moms) share fast and healthy recipes and clever mealtime tips designed to get families— even the pickiest eaters—back to the table.

I’ve just discovered how wonderful it is to listen to podcasts while I’m wallking – they can be so inspiring. I’ve shared this post on Twitter as these ones were new to me. Thank you so much for sharing with us at Hearth and Soul.
Podcasts are a great way to “multi-task” when I’m walking. What are your favorites?
I love podcasts! I tend to listen to more business focused ones like Brilliant Business Moms and Boss Moms. I have listened to Inspired to Action but it’s been awhile. Thanks for the other suggestions! #coffeeandconversation
I’ll check out those business focused podcasts! Thanks for the suggestions.
